Goalgetters United Soccer Club (GGUSC) offers a higher level of competition in its Select Program for 10 - 19 year old Girls and Boys. Playing on a GGUSC Select team requires a higher level of commitment by the player and their family than Community Soccer. Each team is coached by a United States Soccer Federation/WI Youth Soccer Association licensed coach and will receive training led by GGUSC's Director of Coaching, Chris Corrao.
All teams may have a team camp in July or August that stresses GGUSC curriculum, philosophies and team building.
The Select Program is for the committed soccer player that aspires to develop skills and team play while preparing them for High School, State, College and Pro Soccer. We do offer a 12-month program focusing on player and team development in preparation for competitive league and tournament play. With increasing levels of competition, players will develop both technical skills and tactical awareness of the game.
Goalgetters currently has a split season meaning players can sign up for Spring and/or Fall season soccer.
Our goal as a club is to begin to have a playing year like most Select Clubs in the US. It would start with June Tryouts and conclude at the end of the following Spring Season. For U11-U15 athletes this includes:
As athletes enter high school, U15-U19 players will play a modified outdoor schedule that does not interfere with area high school soccer programs:
Teams are formed each season through a process led by the GGUSC Director of Coaching, Chris Corrao and other GGUSC coaches. This takes place during the months of March (spring) and August (fall). If player numbers are greater than permitted by league rules, try-outs will be held to set team rosters.
Prior to the beginning of League play in the Fall, players may have a Preseason Team Camps. These 4-day camps will occur in advance of the fall season starting becuase it provides a critical foundation as teams prepare for the upcoming season of league and tournament play.
During the outdoor season, Select teams typically compete either in the East Central Soccer District or the Wisconsin State League, which offers multiple divisions of increasing levels of competition. Both leagues are administered by Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association (WYSA).
Teams will experience promotion and relegation throughout divisions and leagues based on their performance in league play. Teams experiencing success in the highest levels of the East Central have the opportunity to move onto the State League.
All home games take place in Manitowoc, Wisconsin - primarily at the Goalgetters United Soccer Club Complex. Away games for the East Central League are played in the Fox Valley, Green Bay and surrounding areas.
Teams competing in the East Central Soccer District should expect away games to be scheduled within a 1hr drive from Manitowoc, Wisconsin (Appleton and Green Bay area).
Teams competing in the WYSA State League should expect a majority of games to be scheduled within a 2 hour drive from Manitowoc, Wisconsin, but may include 1-2 matches elsewhere in the state. The league includes teams from Green Bay, Metro Milwaukee, Racine/Kenosha, Madison, and La Crosse.
